Re: Hand Gun in Car on College Campus
I posted about this in the College area of this forum and they gave me the same answer. I then asked campus police if there was a school policy prohibiting it and was told I would be fine leaving it in my car.

Re: Non-lethal ammunition
if I'm ever given reason to pull the trigger, my career as a health professional could grind to a quick halt. Would your particular career future be any different than a person who is not a health professional? Not everyone has a license that can be revoked at the whim of a supervising board. Engin...

Re: Non-lethal ammunition
Thanks for all the advice everyone. I decided to go with a Ruger LCP. Right now I have a pocket holster and it just looks like I have a cell phone in that pocket. Been carrying for a few days now.
I like it.
I like it.

Re: Case Law for study
If you want to scare the heck out of yourself, and how even a good defense attorney can go bad - Google the Harold Fish case. Yikes. Is there a site tracking his appeals and the impact of changes in Arizona law and their effect on his appeals? Edit: Disregard. Just found his defense website and fou...

Re: Non-lethal ammunition
Yeah, I've accepted that non-lethal is probably not the way to go. Now I'm just researching case law.

Re: Non-lethal ammunition
The last three posts were all logical, reasonable, and well-put. These kinds of posts make this site a great resource.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Re: Non-lethal ammunition
My point is simply this: I was asking about non-lethal ammunition for previously mentioned reasons. I would still only pull the gun in an event that justified lethal force, I was simply trying to figure out what protects the family and myself from bogus repercussions. I'm not here to start an argume...

Re: Non-lethal ammunition
That seems like a point of semantics. I appreciate the responses generated in this thread, though. I believe we should have the right to self-defense, but I also have to ensure I don't cripple myself and my family through civil cases if the need ever arises. Obviously, I'm still new to this, so I'm ...

Re: Case Law for study
I appreciate the links. I initially looked on FindLaw (remembered it from my days as a would be pre-law) and only found a few cases. I will try out LexisOne for sure.

Re: Case Law for study
The answer would depend what he means by castle doctrine, because the castle doctrine I know has nothing to do with being in your car. :headscratch I thought the Castle Doctrine was related to Penal Code, Secion 9, as ammended by SB 378 and similar. http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/tlodocs/80R/billte...

Re: Case Law for study
I understand you're not a lawyer, but on sites like these it is always a valid point to repeat. :thumbs2: I primarily intend to carry while commuting to school, so the only time I can foresee there ever being a need for protection is in event of a breakdown or while at a gas station early in the mor...

Case Law for study
Does anyone have any good links to look at that feature cases where lethal self-defense was utilized? Specifically, I'm trying to see for myself whether or not anyone has actually done it and not lost their livelihoods in the civil cases that follow. I asked it in another thread, but it was off-topi...

Re: Non-lethal ammunition
I initially looked at a Taurus 738 TCP since it's so small, but I like the sense of safety I get from a revolver. I haven't shot a Judge yet, so that fact and your input will impact my decision.

Re: Non-lethal ammunition
I suppose I'm afraid of what's happening to Jerome Ersland, an Oklahoma pharmacist. He defended himself and his techs inside a pharmacy by shooting an offender in the head and probably would have been justified up to that point. However, for reasons unknown, after coming back from chasing a second p...

Non-lethal ammunition
Hey everyone, just got my CHL today. I appreciate being armed, but it seems like it's still very difficult to justify even the most justifiable of shootings. We've all read case law and seen court cases that have gone one way or the other, but I feel like if I'm ever given reason to pull the trigger...
