Old Oak Workshop Phoenix IWB Holster Review

I recently received my CHL a few weeks ago and have been carrying ever since. After considering various carry solutions, I decided on this Old Oak IWB holster. My EDC system is as follows:

Glock 26
Glock 17 Magazine
Speer Gold Dot #23611 124Gr +P
Old Oak Workshop Phoenix IWB
Wilderness Original Instructor's Belt
Benchmade 550HG Griptilian
Fenix LD10
HTC MyTouch
Keys
Wallet

Mark was local to me (DFW area) and put the holster together for me in a matter of a week or so. He was quite professional, answering all my questions and keeping me updated with the build process. Once it was finished, we met up and he showed me the holster, gave me some tips on its use and carry, and presented some paper work for it. I was very pleased with the quality of materials and attention to detail.

Once I received my CHL I began daily carrying with the holster at about the 4:30 position. Although it was uncomfortable at first, I gradually became accustomed to having it on me. Once the holster was broken in, it was very comfortable and now I barely notice that its on me. I am 5'10, 160ibs, athletic build, and the gun simply disappears even under a slightly fitted T-shirt and jeans. I have yet to be made even by some of my shooting buddies.

The holster features adjustable cant, ride level, and retention, so you should be able to find the best setting for you. Being in Texas and rather prone to sweating easily, I was worried about rust issues. Mark reassured me stating that he only uses stainless steel hardware, and so far, I have yet to spot any rust.

The holster also has a rough side backing to assist the belt clips in preventing the holster from being pulled out during weapon draw.

I only have a few gripes with the holster. First, the adjustable belt clips will hang over the bottom of the leather if the holster is adjusted to sit high on the belt line. This causes some discomfort from the kydex pressing against me. This can be easily fixed by cutting off the excess length of kydex at the cost of adjust-ability. Second, if the belt clips are not relatively horizontal on your belt and you have your retention set pretty high on the holster, the whole holster can be pulled out with the draw. Some care when putting on the holster and adjusting retention accordingly has solved this problem.

Overall, I am very satisfied with this holster and would recommend it to others looking at Crossbreed Supertucks and Mtacs. Mark is a great guy pushing a great product (and at a great price!). Below I have linked his site:

Thanks again Mark!
