I agree that the LMT, the H&K MR556 and the various LWRC rifles are extremely nice, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find one at quite the same price point as the Ruger SR556. This is not at all a knock on the previous three examples, it's just a testament to how high they are held in esteem.
Personally, I'm waiting for the Magpul Masada/Bushmaster ACR. Word around the campfire is that it will retail in the $1500 range. But I digress!

$1995 or whatever is just retail. I often see them selling for $1500 or less. There was a person on this forum selling a couple of them for $1350 each (not sure if they are still available).
Don't get me wrong, it's a lot of rifle for the price. But, I have heard that they are still working out some of the bugs in the system. Caveat emptor and all that, I suppose. I have yet to shoot one myself but I think a buddy of mine may be leaning towards one so as soon as I can get my grubby mitts on one I'll post up some sort of review.
