This underscores the need to be "reasonable" when addressing concerns with government officials. I have sought out my representatives to share my displeasure for some of the things that they are doing, have supported or voted against. But under the "an armed society is a polite society" mentality, I work overtime at making sure that I'm addressing my ire to the policies and not the people themselves.. Even so, I think there is a line over which you can be accused of crossing even though you might not have done so by someone who seeks to stop you from irritating them. I have several politicians who represent me who seem less than pleased to hear from me. Even without suggestive language as seems to be the case in the link, being persist might get you to the same place.
