MD and DC are both off limits if you want to reduce your risks. I would figure out public transportation to get back and forth that way. At least you can have your gun in VA.
Driving in D.C. is not fun period. My company sent me to school there and I stayed off K Street several times. Even in a rental car, it is the pits.
