Re: Liberal Agenda - in Denton, TX?

I'm glad to hear that there are positive stories from the teaching profession. I would not have been surprised to have the subject story come from Austin or Houston or even Dallas, where I know that there are pockets of those whose agenda is to foist their own opinions on the students. I figured that Denton represented a different atmosphere.

What the story said to me is that vigilance even in rural areas about how the schools are being administered is important. I'm sure that there are good things going on in the Denton ISD, too. I'm glad that the TV news was willing to highlight a situation that wasn't in keeping with our expectations of fairness and tolerance of ideas in the public schools.

An English teacher at Denton High School in the Dallas-Fort Worth area allegedly refused to grade two student reports because they discussed guns.
but later
In a statement to MyFoxDFW.com, the Denton Independent School District said, "The teacher has accepted the paper and apologized to the student for misperceptions. The teacher's intent was for guns not to be trivialized in any school situation because of recent events."
I'm not surprised but I am disgusted. This is just another example of how the teachers can inject their own personal beliefs into classroom situations to punish students who don't agree with them. Given the preponderance of teachers with Liberal leanings, it is no wonder that many of our kids graduate from public schools without a clear understanding of multiple points of view. The good news is that the school administration responded. The bad news is that there are likely more stories like this that didn't make the TV news. :banghead:
