Unlike the AR problem, the breed of the dog doesn't really matter.

On Wednesday, I was riding my bike for exercise for the first time in a couple of months and was set up by 3 large dogs. One, probably some sort of yellow lab mix, showed me its teeth and came very close to getting pepper sprayed. The wind was not in my favor. I had stopped my bike, gotten off and put the bike between me and the dogs while standing very still. I've learned that movement seems to make them more likely to charge and attack. It took me almost 10 minutes to slowly extract myself from the situation, ruining my cardio exercise.

I had a similar incident the last week that I rode. There, it was two dogs, one younger in appearance but both some sort of chocolate lab mix. Labs are friendly, right? They went into a pack attack mode and were the reason that I bought the pepper spray.

I'm reminded of this by the scar on my calf where the doberman bit me. It is still there several years later. Fortunately, she got more of a mouthful of my sweat pant than of my flesh as she tried to twist her head and tear at my leg. Her owner, holding her on a retractable leash was telling me "don't worry, she doesn't bite."

While the kennel clubs pride themselves in the pure blood lines of their respective breeds, the reality of dogs on the streets is that they are so cross bred that it is hard to tell one from another. Mutts come in all forms with different blood lines. What matters is how aggressive they are towards people. I suspect that the dogs in the OP are not pure bred anything.

I'm a dog lover and a dog owner. But I have no use for dog owners who allow their potentially aggressive animals to come in contact with the public. To me, it is like leaving a loaded and chambered AR-15 lying on the sidewalk. It isn't a question of whether it will be a problem but when. Owners who have several such animals that they allow to roam the streets together and unattended should be held criminally responsible for whatever those dogs do. Breed is an unimportant characteristic.
