In all of the gun control rhetoric, there is never once a mention of the situations like Oakland. The problem in Chicago is similar. Because gang violence doesn't fit the desired messaging, the politicians simply treat the gang situations like the 8 ton elephant in the room.City officials held a news conference Monday to discuss the alarming wave of shootings in the city over the weekend. Four people were killed Friday and 11 more were wounded since then. Police said one suspect is in custody.
It would be interesting to see what the US statistics would look like if all of the gang related violence, shootings and murders were excluded.
