I have noticed an increase in the number of aggressive drivers in the DFW metro area. I try to stay off their radar and let them pass, but I had a guy get mad at me a couple months back and he pursued me across some lanes threatening to "bump" into the side of my truck. Never did know what set him off. I just kept giving ground in a non threatening way and he gave up. It does get your heart rate up. As tempting as it was to give him the salute, I just kept in mind he may be my worst nightmare if I did and I certainly did not want it to look like I did not de-escalate the situation while armed.
I've had those, too. I had one "lady' nearly run into the side of me while texting and driving and then she took offense to my tapping my horn at her to get her attention. She tried hard to run us off the road afterward. I'm not sure what is going through the minds of people who do this. It is unfortunate that most PDs cannot respond to these kinds of situations. Our daughter is a police dispatcher and she reports that they can get to about only 10% of the 911 calls that they get from drivers because of road rage, drunk driving, etc. incidents.
