Like many others, I view this as a Cornyn "show vote" where he knows the outcome (defeat of the bill) but pushes it to try to shore up his position. I had sleepless nights while the battle for Majority Leader was going on with any thought that he might get it.Cornyn asside, this bill is a long shot and even if it were to pass, I would expect the Blue States to ignore it the way that they have with their Supreme Court loss in Bruen. Of all of the hope that I have in the Trump Presidency, fixing this problem is not in that hope chest. I don't expect to be driving through Maryland with my legal concealed carry any time soon.
