I don't think so. We were all fooled by him when he first ran. Since then, he has maintained his position through the strength of the same people who keep the Tate/Spencer dynasties going in Grapevine. There are a lot of Republicans in Tarrant County (and elsewhere) for whom just having a familiar name with an "R" behind it is enough to keep casting ballots for them. I'd like to blame the Dems but believe it is shallow interest in exactly how they are being represented.

In fairness, I canvassed my own neighborhood when I was working against our current House Rep. Not a single one of my neighbors could tell me he was representing them. When you don't even know who he is, there isn't a remote chance that you will know how bad his voting record is.

Re: Rep. Giovanni Capriglione (HD98)

I am no longer in Tarrant County but I was one of the ones who protested Gio's predecessor in order to help him get elected and who has campaigned against him ever since to try to get him out of office. Why? because the first thing he did in office was to vote for Joe Strauss for Speaker after he faithfully promised not to do that. He stood right next to me and looked me in the eye. He has continued to vote for Strauss and Phelan ever since so it was no surprise to me when he came out as one of the heads of the push to oppose Cook and install another Speaker who is actively seeking the support of the Democrats and who will put Democrats in committee chairs. Gio also voted to impeach AG Paxton.

So good luck in trying to get him to vote for Cook. I heartily recommend contacting him but suggest that anyone who does accept his kinship with the Austin Establishment and not the people who pushed the get the Republican Caucus to elect Cook. The grassroots leaders have done a fantastic job of getting primary opponents to oppose all of the Strauss/Phelan Rhinos but still have a few more to go. Gio is one of them.
