I see the CHL as a step in the process to at least being armed for personal safety. But it's become a pacifier for the real cause, that of which Dragonfighter speaks. The "baby steps" we are taking are understandable, but we can't lose sight of our goal to be armed without having to bow to government to do it. With all the work our legislature and gun rights organizations have done just to get concealed carry where it is today, would someone like Medina embarass them all if she could get true gun rights legislation accomplished or at least in process? After all, she's not even a politician!Dragonfighter wrote:Perry is strong in CHL though he doesn't seem to want to change the climate making CHL an additional option but allowing the rest of us subjects to carry as well. The requirement of a CHL IS an infringement.

Re: Debra Medina
Good post, Mike - that's a meaningful reply. Never being a guest on a talk show, I don't know the pressures and difficulties encountered trying to ask questions, especially loaded ones. And yes, Beck seems seriously in favor of Perry, probably because that's who the NRA is endorsing, and of his stand on states' rights.
I think she deserves more chances, she doesn't have the charisma or the experience of a politician - and that might be a good thing - but she doesn't come off to the regular voter as someone who really knows what she is talking about. Although, she seems very committed to the cause of property rights and gun ownership.
I'm still going to keep her in mind.
I hope she sends that message to Beck to see if he acknowledges it.

Re: Debra Medina
While listening, it was hard to focus on what she was trying to say, she did more than answer the question, she droned on with her points unrelated to the "truther" question, and with a talk show like Beck's they only have a certain amount of time and he tried cutting her short. So, since he has the last word, and enough conservative Texans are listening, she's going to lose poll points. No matter what any of us think of Beck, he has an affect on his listeners, and he has the third largest listening audience in the US (according to him, I don't know his source). It's back to the best of all evils.

Re: Debra Medina
Listened to her on Glen Beck, he just questioned her about being a "9/11 truther". At the end of the interview, he labeled her as such. The problem was she would neither confirm nor deny that she believed the government had anything to do with the Trade Center bombing. Her response was that there are legitimate questions out there that she doesn't have the answers for and has not heard any answers for, but she thinks that since it is a federal issue, it has little to do with her bid for governor.
Her poll numbers may drop a few points unless she can do some quick damage control.
Edit: UTI beat me to it, I'm one of the now confused...
