Police investigate North Austin carjackings

08:16 AM CDT on Wednesday, July 12, 2006
KVUE News

Austin police are searching for several men in connection with two early morning carjackings in North Austin.

The first happened around midnight in a Blockbuster parking lot on the northbound side of I-35 at Parmer Lane.

Police say one man was shot twice in the leg before his Cadillac was stolen.

A few hours later there was a second carjacking attempt at a Chevron station at I-35 and Highway 290.

A Buick LeSabre was found with gun shot holes. The owner was not injured.

Authorities believe the two incidents could be related.

I was driving through this area at 11:45pm, we were going to stop at the HEB but the exit was closed. Thank goodness we had to stay on I-35 north.
