Just a point of information ... I, too, submitted all of the required paperwork upon receipt of the notification from the state. I've had my certificate since 2000 and I am an NRA Basic Pistol Instructor ... I sent this in as required on the CHL-90 form ... and have heard nothing yet. But they sure ...

Absolutely! That's currently the preferred way as far as the DPS is concerned. Even if you're just renewing, you can change the photo.

MikeinTexas, since May of 2011 the procedure has been changed that Renewal License will no longer require NEW photos and fingerprints, unless the ones that the department currently have on file are not of sufficient quality as to be digitized.
