I carry at home for the same reason I carry out and about.

I have security doors, which will stop a baseball bat, but that doesn't mean that after repeated attempts to break in, they won't finally get through.
Of course, they could skirt the doors and break through the windows, which still should give me a few seconds, but still not enough time to call 911 and get the cops to my house before they get in.

Interesting. It's the 10 seconds part that has me really thinking. A bad guy can do a lot in 10 seconds. I used to think in the next room was okay, but in today's world I have changed my habits.

A lot can happen in 10 seconds, I agree.

I feel OK in my house, as our front and back doors have an added security door on them, and hopefully will afford me the 10 seconds necessary to get to a gun.

I also feel I am more at risk when I walk into a Post office for 25 minutes without my weapon than my 10 seconds at home
