Re: Privacy and Academy
This came up in the "Buying At Academy" thread down further and someone who used to work at Academy said they did not do this. I would not see way they would either. Most gun shops just file them away in file storage box's. I know. I started that thread. The guy at the store said they coll...

Re: buying guns at academy
I buy a lot of firearms at Academy. They have some of the best prices IMO. It never takes me anymore than 15 to 20 minutes. I highly doubt they farm data from the 4473's. Same here....Never any problems. They have good prices but i'm retired AF and our BX is better lately and no sales tax.

Re: Purchasing a Gun with CHL
I bought a Mossberg 20ga. shotgun from Academy back in Sept. '10. No calls needed...On the other hand, the process still took a while since the clerk was new and needed to be trained on how to fill out the paperwork. But I didn't mind, it was my first purchase with my CHL...so far. ; ) Same happene...

Re: How much training should a CHL holder have?
I think the Texas CHL class doe's a pretty good job at some initial training, eneough to pass usually anyway.Just about every class i been to there will be at least one or two people who have never even shot a gun.The instructors always take time to give them some pretty good basics and class discus...

Re: Glock Sales Surge
Actually depending on where you are a Glock 19 will come with 10 round magazines. California and New York are two examples I can think of. My new Glock 19 was purchased a few days prior to this madness came with 3 15 round magazines as our state doesn't subscribe to the magazine capacity madness. O...

Re: Glock Sales Surge
I own several Glocks one of which is a G19....I wonder if The CNN Situation Room show(last night) with The Gafferty File helped out with sales. Although Mr. Gafferty gave false info.He said the G19 had a standard magazine that held 10 rounds(actually 15)...the shooter had 30 rd mag.He was wanting to...

Re: Why do gun shops try to take advantage of you?
All our local gun shops are struggling to stay open but still have outragous prices.I guess they are not getting good deals from thier suppliers. They have to make a profit to keep the doors open. One shop closed up just recently and another is close to it.What even made it harder is now they sell gu...

Re: Arizona Horror
Arizona is a gun-loving state, very aware of the 2nd Amendment. Nineteen people are shot by a madman firing a Glock. You'd think that someone other than the killer in the crowd around the Representative would have a gun too. Look for an outcry against guns. I was watching CNN this morning an...

If it was me i'd get the Colt or RRA...but if ya like it go for it. ...

Re: I want to buy my first AR
Ok... Opinion on the Sig 516 SWAT? I looked at one at my local gun shop today, and really liked what I saw and felt. It comes with the quad rail and a red dot optic. It was $1350. I know Sig makes quality in all other firearms, so is it true here? Also, it's a lifetime warranty which was nice too. ...

Re: Which target do you practice with
Rifles, or pistols? If I'm shooting pistols at a commercial range, I generally just use whatever the range offers with the range fee. But I do most of my pistol shooting at DPC, and I'm shooting at steel plates. For rifle shooting, I generally bring along some kind of either bright orange "pas...
