Re: New Problem! M1A or M1 Carbine
Yes. Elmer Ballance started Springfield armory and then sold it to the Reese family who moved it to Illinois. He still resides in Devine Texas. The earlier m1a barrels were stamped Devine Texas. They are known as the Devine M1A and they go for some good money. And as a side note I picked up a Spring...

Re: New Problem! M1A or M1 Carbine
The Springfield M1A was born right here in Texas. That's gotta mean something. I have my 3rd M14 type rifle coming in soon.

Pistol for the wife?
Maybe a dumb question but is there a pistol in 9mm that's easier to shoot than my Glock 19 and concealable? My wife decided she wants to carry. She currently has a bersa thunder 380 that she qualified with and we also have been to the range with it to practice. She didn't want to shoot my Glock beca...

I'm glad they didn't drop it on Kyoto. My mom is half Japanese and born in kyoto in the 50's.

Re: Bought my first center fire rifle
Got word the rifle is on the way back. Paperwork says they reamed and polished the chamber. Hope that fixes the issue. Got my leather sling and a couple of CMI mags and a new spring guide ready to go

Re: Academy ammo
I went a few weeks ago looking 7.62x51. Found none. Place was wiped. I'm glad I started buying 9mm last year. I didn't buy any 308 or 7.62 though so I'm screwed. I did find at my local gun shop 350 rounds of lake city 7.62 for $250. I need to go back and see if they have more. Guess I'll have to sta...

Re: Bought my first center fire rifle
When it comes to some things I can be a little vain. A lot of things about the M1A are impractacle. They're not ideal for a scope. They're heavy. You can't use whatever ammo you want. They're way overpriced. Ammo is expensive. You can buy more accurate rifles for way less. But boy is it good looking.

Re: AMMO. Buying, selling or nothing
I was sitting back because I have enough 22lr and 9mm to last a good while. I had a stock of 5.56 but I sold it all because I decided to not go the AR15 route and instead got a . 308 rifle. Now I'm on the hunt for some . 308. I'm in no rush though.

Re: My first Garand
Nice rifles in this thread. As a kid getting into firearms I fell in love with the looks of the '03 Springfield. It will probably be the next gun I purchase. An A3. I can remember as a teen flying out to my uncle's house and he had all the guns I love. He said I could pick the guns we take to the ra...

Re: Bought my first center fire rifle
Wow, you went for the gold right away, didn't you? Congrats! The issues should be readily fixed - sometimes guns just need a little tuning. Thanks. I don't own a lot of guns nor do I really want a ton of them. I do need to make the ones I buy worthwhile. I'd like to go Hog hunting with my brother a...

Bought my first center fire rifle
20200701_210644.jpg I've purchased a 22lr and a shotgun but now I've gone and bought my first centerfire rifle. A Springfield M1A scout squad in walnut. I've always liked the old military battle rifles and the M1A always seemed too expensive. I had planned on purchasing an AR15 and with that plan I...
