Re: Let's talk about knives
The Blur has a relatively thin tip. In that price range have you considered the ZT0350? They are close in size. http://kershawguy.com/products-page/zt-blems/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Let's talk about knives
I go to places like bars & concerts where alcohol is served on premises. I go to the post office from time to time. etc
I also like to carry a heavy duty folder along with a sharp fixed blade & a gun that most would consider to be large.

Re: Let's talk about knives
Many people carry firearms that are much more expensive than that, but they never get used as intended. I use my knives all the time, so I don't have a problem spending more on them if I like the design/materials/etc. Personal preference.
You're welcome to your opinion on liner locks. I have never had one fail on me, but I don't mistreat my tools. I try to choose the tool that is best for the job required.
That ad was from the maker of the knife. Of course he thinks it is worth more than what they actually sell for through distributors. Ever hear of MSRP? It IS a VERY high quality custom knife, & is my most expensive by a healthy margin. But there are other distributors that have offered it for less. And sometimes people end up selling things they buy/collect for various reasons.
That leads me to my FS thread here that I referenced for the pictures. It was relevant for the conversation. I'm a private individual selling one of my knives. I am not a business. Most of my posts are not in that area. I don't see any rules broken. And if it happens to lead anybody to be interested in it enough to buy, then bonus for me :)
Thanks! It is my birthday, the weather here is BEAUTIFUL, & I'm about to go see my family. We may even go watch The Family. It is a nice day![ThumbsUp ](./images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Re: Let's talk about knives
Not all liner locks are the same. Check out the ZT0350 in ZDP189 I'm selling: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=69070" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; There's a picture of the liner lock on it. That's a .075" liner on a .120" thick blade. The ZT0200 liner is the same thickness. You won't hear ANYBODY saying the ZT0200 is a weak knife
And the Fire was a $500 knife. It's my most expensive & only hand built knife that uses titanium, carbon fiber, lightning strike carbon fiber, Elmax, & a slick Double Action scale opening design. Can you blame me for liking it?

Re: Let's talk about knives
I just sold off a Benchmade Auto Axis. The Axis Lock is a GOOD lock, but I just don't care for it compared to a frame lock, liner lock, or a traditional lock back on a select few. I have heard that it is stronger than those, but I just couldn't get used to it. I carried a Kershaw Leek for years. Now I mainly carry ZT flippers. I've got a few others that I carry from time to time, depending on where I'm going & how I feel. I'm REALLY liking my Diskin Fire ;)

True, but LEOs can carry those into places that many of us cannot.Bang4Buck wrote:I never see LEO pull a knife. They pull a gun!

Re: Let's talk about knives
Hopefully the badguy/zombies are at least 21ft away from you. Within that distance a knife is a better defensive tool than a pistol.Cedar Park Dad wrote:Self defense? None. Thats what all the thunder sticks are for...Bang4Buck wrote:So I know there is a 5.5 inch limit on knives, and come September 1 an auto/switchblade knife will be legal.
With that in mind, what kind of knives do you have/prefer for self defense purposes?
If I need a knife I've already gone through 30 rounds of ammo, and frankly if the zombies are attacking its my fault for not uparmoring!
I do have a highly lethal (to the TSA) apple cutter Swiss Army knife. Greatest...tool....ever.

If Leor ado Da Vinci can build one, then why can't I? Lol68Charger wrote:AdioSS wrote:I've been re-playing through one of my Assassin's Creed games & the thought popped into my head that since switchblades will be legal, then wouldn't the "Hidden blade" from the games be legal as well?
I'm not sure if you're being serious or... ?
As so long as the knife is under 5.5"..
And it would need a single sided blade to stay legal :)

Re: Let's talk about knives
Ka-Bar & TDI introduced their line of knives that are specifically designed for firearm retention. I tried it & just couldn't get comfortable with it. I just prefer a more standard fixed blade @ 8-9 o'clock or hung from my belt & tucked into the front of my back pocket.

Re: Let's talk about knives
if Mic Dundee were to carry a folder, he'd probably carry a Cold Steel Espada XL (or a Rajah II) but probably with the flat G10. The shiny version is the one Mickey Rourke used in The Expandables. Here's a comparison of sizes with a Beretta 92. Many consider that to be a very large pistol, but the Espadas dwarf it!

Up front is the Texas "legal" 5.5" Large Espada.
