03Lightningrocks wrote:And Bronco..... if you're not showing your gun around..... worrying about the word may.... won't be a problem for you. ;-) Why on earth would any right thinking human, "display, discharge, or possess, a gun, knife, or other weapon in a way that may threaten other people". Not to mention that only a fool would let folks see them bringing firearms in and out of their homes. Why risk making yourself a target for home burglary? Again... the absurdity of some of the directions these threads takes rears it's ugly head one more time. Now you want to make hay out of the word may as we take it completely out of context!
Thanks for your opinion and input :thumbs2:

I agree overall with your assessment that some threads are exploded with opinions and conjecture,,, But I'm sure you realize that is the nature of INTERNET forums, where all involved are allowed to respond to a post with there opinions... Thats the way this INTERNET thing works :smilelol5:

And personally I'm not concerned at all with the word MAY "rlol" in the context to which I referenced it (per the lease) Others MAY be, that was my point... just because you, me and 99 of our best friends don't get upset, concerned, or threatened by a person possessing a weapon. There are those that are.... That lease,,, it covers that threatened person, not the gun owner.

As all have surmised, this lease thing is a allot about nothing... :hurry: don't ask, don't tell, be a responsible gun owner and all will be well.

03Lightningrocks I have now added to your frustration of responding in a verbose manner when a simple one sentence reply would have sufficed :smilelol5:

I'll give you the reply you seek. (and as it's mothers day and all...)

YES DEAR, I agree, Ok if thats what you want :cheers2: (Short enough for you.. :biggrinjester: )

All have a great weekend...... I'm going shooting with my son's Mother.

03Lightningrocks wrote:Excuse me but I still don't see what is objectionable about that wording in the lease. Since when is it anti gun to ask folks not to display their guns in a threatening manner. You guys sure make a lot of something out of nothing on this forum sometimes. I am actually with the apartments. Don't be waving your darn gun around. Your not suppose to be showing it off anyway. The lease wording is just fine. Nothing about it even hints around about guns not being allowed in the apartment. It says not to use them to scare folks... JEEPERS CREEPERS!!! Are you guys really not understanding what that wording says???
I suppose you may see it that way..

I suppose someone who is also articulate and well read could interpret the wording a bit differently and then think ahead to ask some clarifying questions from a group of people known to have some good life experience and common sense.

It may just be me,,, but the wording on the lease seems to be very open to interpretations and allow the apartment manager to lean to non gun if they want, or ignore the verbiage and allow you to clean um on the front porch.
display, discharge, or possess, a gun, knife, or other weapon in a way that may
threaten or alarm others or Roommates including but not limited to any pistol, revolver, rifle, shotgun, or other
weapon designed or intended to propel a missile of any kind, knives of stated dimensions, razors, throwing stars, nun
chucks, and similar objects;
That one little word.. MAY.

There are un informed folks out there who are threatened by the simple existence of a firearm... nothing in the lease verbiage says "waive it around" .
So if you posses a gun,, and I'm threatened by it,, your in violation of the lease.... or at least that is what i read. I don't agree with that thought process... but, it is a reality in my work.

IANAL.. no pretend to be one.... I have to deal with offended people for EO reasons,, where the standard is,, if the other person is offended,,, your wrong... so I'm bias on what i read in that lease for sure.

Re: No Gun Apartment Lease?

It would seem the best idea yet is contact a lawyer. But aside from that, It looks like the worst case (assuming your not going to be brandishing the weapon scaring or threatening others as a habit) is,, that you possess your weapon in a normal low key way,, and if the day comes you have to engage a BG.. You move after you get the eviction notice. A potential pain, for sure, but really.. What are the chances you'll have to draw and or shoot someone?

If it happens and the worst is you move to a new apartment. Seems like a small risk for a smaller possibility.
