Hey Jersey_emt, I tried posting a comment to your article on which gun to choose for home defense, without success, so I'm dropping it in here. Maybe spark an idea for a good follow on article...

I would like to add another critical consideration for "Things to Think About" - your ability to use the firearm in question. Not only in ability to successfully hit what you are aiming at (under stress), but general shooting skills, willingness to keep training updated, and tactical mindset. Ultimately this factor is far more important than caliber or type. A veteran Navy SEAL will be deadly with a .22 pistol; a homeowner who is unsure whether they could actually pull the trigger, who has not thought-through when or when not to shoot, and has little or no shooting experience (and is unwilling to develop any) should seriously question if a firearm in the home is a good decision. Nothing worse than taking a gun to a knife fight, only to have the gun taken away and used against you.
