Re: Feb 2010 Applications

Yes I was.. I had a hiccup in my past.. I sent in all disposition papers with it.. So I knew (hoped) it was just a matter of time and review.. Being as patient as I am, it was no big deal at all.. (tongue in cheek of course). :biggrinjester: :thewave

Re: Feb 2010 Applications

Well, after being told last Tuesday the 22nd, that my app was in legal review, I called yesterday (3-28-10) to get a status. They transferred me to the legal department. I spoke to the legal secretary who told me that they had just received my packet on Friday the 26th.. (3 day gap?).
The nice lady told me that the attorney (I assume only 1 there?) had about 50 application packets on her desk, and it would likely be about 2 weeks before she gets to mine.. grrrrrr... So here we are, going on Day 42... :mad5

Re: Feb 2010 Applications

wife got plastic today woo hoo !
If you've been following any of my posts, you may know that I had a hiccup in my background. but I was fully prepared, and sent in all paperwork with my application, to get it approved on the first run.. Well this morning, I emailed the famous "Rene" for a true update, instead of the usual "still processing" you get on the website..
Here's what I sent:
Can you please give me a status update on my application? I know it still shows processing online - but I was hoping you can give me a few more details than that? My wife sent hers in same day and license was issued this past weekend.

Her response:
The application has been sent to our legal department for further review. You should receive a letter within 30 days regarding your application.

My reply:
Should I assume that there is a problem with my application ? I know that there was an arrest in my background. But I sent in full disposition (certified copies from District Clerk) paperwork with my application, showing the case was set aside.

her latest reply:
I would not say there is a problem per say. It would just need to be reviewed a little further.

my reply:
okay... thanks .. You message about receiving a letter within 30 days just worried me a little bit.
Thanks for your help.

I sure hope things get cleared up quickly..
From some of the posts I've read, their legal review team doesn't necessarily practice the laws that were enacted last year about deferred adjudications being set aside, vacated, etc.. With the wife getting hers, my patience went thru the floor, and anxiety went thru the roof!! LOL

Re: Feb 2010 Applications

UncleBob wrote:LIES! We'll see what happens, however lots of people have been taking about 4 weeks this lately. As far as your "criminal" history only you know the facts behind that.
It was a deferred adjudication from 2002. I did the community supervision (half of sentenced) then my lawyer got the case dismissed, SET ASIDE, and all evidence set aside as well.
I went to Dallas County and got a certified copy of the disposition which plainly states all of that, from the clerk's office. (that was an experience all its own) LOL

And I sent in all original paperwork with my packet... Again, the irritating this is that the tech I spoke to last week, told me that the tech had it since 3-4-10, reviewing, and as long as background checked out (and disposition) then it should be approved in 3-4 days (from last Thursday), and sent to printer.

Now fast forward to this morning and that lady told me what she did.. the wind was obviously taken from my sails... I know I'll get it.. It's just that patience is not one of my strong suits.. Just ask my friends. LOL :cryin

Re: Feb 2010 Applications

GRRRRRRRR :mad5
Called today (and not so helpful) lady told me: "okay, it looks like we got your application on 2-18-10. Right now, we're running about 2-3 months. Since yours had something in your criminal history, it's likely to take 3-6 months to get your license as long as everything checks out."

What kind of crap is that ??? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :boxing

Re: Feb 2010 Applications

interesting info found out today
I sent in packet on 2-16-10... Money orders cashed few days later, pins received 3-3-10. Mine and wife's were all together, received pins same day in the mail.
I had a deferred adjudication in my past, but sent in certified disposition from court clerk and all with papers.
It has said "processing application" since the day I got our pins. I called today, to check on any change. I was told that a technician started reviewing mine on 3-4-10, and should be done with it within 3 more days so long as there is nothing more to the DA than reported. Then it will go to printer and be sent out..
So with that in mind, I might be able to start looking for it towards the end of NEXT week..
But the wife's still says processing too.. If a tech has had mine since 3-4-10, I would assume that my wife's is already ready?? Hers had no hitches to it at all..
I am excited about getting mine soon.. But even more excited about her getting here in the next few days...
dang, patience is hard to come by.. LOL

Re: Feb 2010 Applications

I feel obligated to tell you guys..
Even though the POST Office still says our packets are sitting in the Austin Terminal, a nice email to DPS has uncovered the fact that my application HAS BEEN RECEIVED and is in normal processing at this time.. my wife's is still not "in the system" but I'm sure it's there as well..
Thanks for letting me vent guys !! I was pleasantly surprised at the quick response time of the DPS people when I emailed them this morning..

Re: Feb 2010 Applications

So mad, I could chew nails... BOTH (mine and wife's) packages were scanned in Austin Post Office LAST Thursday morning at 8:53. But that's it.. That's the last time the packages were scanned. DPS still doesn't have them, Postal Service doesn't know where they are. AND the Postal Money orders I sent with them can be tracked to see if they've been cashed yet.. For a $ 5.40 fee.. What kind of crap is that?? I buy them from them, they lose them, then I gotta pay MORE to see if they've been cashed? And the apathy by the various postal employees when you call the 800 number for customer service..
Sorry guys, just venting a little bit.. Oh yeah, they told me "well sir, don't assume them lost until 30 days from the last scan has elapsed"
WHAT ???? :banghead: :cryin

Re: Feb 2010 Applications

Being a recent applicant, I'm already a little irritated... I hope this is not a sign of things to come in the near future..
I mailed our (mine and wife's) packets via certified mail on Tuesday 2-16. Tracking them online, shows they "Arrived at Austin unit" on 2-18-10 @ 8:53 am.
Well, they have STILL not delivered them to DPS (or at least no delivery is noted as of yet)...
I know I may be a little impatient.. But dang, 2 days from Tyler to Austin, then sits there 4 days without moving ???
