Don't be so quick to throw the baby out with the bath water. My students are fully aware that I exercise my Second Amendment rights and advocate for responsible use of weapons. I don't think I'm much of an exception either.LarryH wrote: Your ex-girlfriend was brainwashed by the politically correct educational system.

Re: Girlfriend
Some of my students live in homes where guns are considered the property of thugs. I make it a point to let them know that I shoot recreationally and believe in a citizen's right to self-defense.
Every so often, a newer student will ask, "You got guns in your house, Miss?"
I've started replying, "Well, of course. Doesn't everybody?"
We need to remove this fallacious idea that guns are the evil man's possessions, and that no good person should have one.

Re: Girlfriend
I get both hurt and angry when I hear other women making statements like these. I can't help but wonder if they've been living under a rock.
An attacker doesn't simply threaten us with death. Much more is taken from a woman that has experienced rape. We will all die once, but I don't believe for a minute that rape is something that God sanctions.
She needs to read the writings of rape survivors; their experiences were not "meant to be," nor were they "God's will." We live in a cruel world, be we are not to condone evil and cruel acts to be committed against us.
