We had guns in our vehicles on campus when I was in school, and never any shootings. We also didn't have high-stakes state testing, or school administrators who were more concerned with checking boxes on state reports than how their students were treating each other. While school/teacher accountability is a worthy goal, the result of the efforts to achieve it has shifted the responsibility for learning from the learner to the teacher; from the citizen to the state if you'll allow me that analogy.Oldgringo wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 10:00 pm Bulletproof backpacks? What about bulletproof frontpacks and headpacks? When I, and later my sons, went to school, we carried our books in our arms. Oh, I forgot, we didn't go around shooting each other back then.
The solution to these senseless tragedies is not more protective gear. What is it,.....anybody?
