I think HCSO is pretty much anything goes, but I THINK that they have an approved manufacturers list. If so, it's got all of the major manufacturers on it. They just don't want someone to show up with a Rossi revolver. Actually, in my academy class, someone DID. :oops: He had to borrow a Glock.

Well, it's been awhile, but I was a Deputy there about 12 years ago. Back then, if you could qualify with it, you could carry it (assuming minimum caliber of 9mm or .38). I don't remember if they had an approved manufacturer's list. I don't think so. Some carried 1911s, Sigs, Glocks, etc. I went through their academy in the summer of 1994 through Sam Houston St. Univ. I carried a S&W 6450 (essentially a 4506) that has been worked over by Novak's .45 Shop, and I also qualified on a Glock 19 for off-duty. I'm very proud to have earned this:
