Police now say that the woman who reported being carjacked actually went to Louisiana to gamble. She has been charged with making a false report.
There was no carjacking.

Re: League City: Murder, robbery, carjacking
You're welcome.
It seems every intersection that is close to an interstate is ripe for quick-in-quick-out robberies and other crimes.
League City may have been a quiet suburb back when cars had tail fins, but it has every big-city problem now.

Re: League City: Murder, robbery, carjacking
I thought that was unusual, that someone would cooperate with criminals for hours and then wait hours longer to report the crime.
If I were, say, Hercule Poirot, I'd be wondering if someone was trying to cover up something.

Re: League City: Murder, robbery, carjacking
More fallout from last weekend: A man reported being robbed in the 1200 block of east Main Street around 11:45 p.m. Sunday. The robbers were described as two Hispanic men, one 5' 6" to 5' 10", stocky, with a shaved head. No description is available for the other robber. The victim reportedly was beaten but did not require medical treatment.
The location is a fairly desolate stretch of FM 518.
This story was in the June 8 print version of the Galveston County Daily News. It is not available online.

League City: Murder, robbery, carjacking
Life is not a field of clover in League City this week.
A 23-year-old man was found shot to death outside his home in the 1900 block of Acacia around 2:15 a.m. Sunday.
I don't know the exact neighborhood, but this is a generally upscale area. The address is a street in a subdivision with limited access to FM 518 just west of I-45.

Sunday and Monday three suspects, all age 18, were arrested and charged with aggravated robbery in this case.

Mug shots say a lot about a person. I see no shame or fear in these photos.
Two people reported being carjacked in League City on Saturday and forced to drive two "suspects" to Louisiana. The unidentified "couple" reportedly were leaving the drive-up lane at a Taco Bell at 1755 W. FM 518 around 5:30 p.m. Saturday when two men, one armed with a handgun, accosted them and forced them to drive to the Louisiana border.
The suspects were described as "a 6-foot-2 black man weighing 175 pounds, wearing a red shirt and black jean shorts" and "a 5-foot-8 Hispanic man weighing 185 pounds, wearing a white shirt and jean shorts."
The victims were not robbed or otherwise molested.
The victims reported the crime after returning to League City.

The Louisiana border is about 120 miles and a 2-hour drive on the interstates from League City.
These two incidents took place within 200 yards of the intersection of FM 518 and I-45. Otherwise there is no obvious relationship.
