Re: FL: Boat rage

I had a vague recollection of this incident when mamabearCali posted the update today:

I have a pretty good memory, but keeping track of 12,000 posts stretches it.

There is a lesson here, for me: Initial news reports are always incomplete or erroneous. They often are biased. If you or I try to make a moral judgment based on a news report, we have a good chance of being wrong.

The judge's decision made it very clear that the defender (boat owner who shot two intruders) was justified.

Re: FL: Boat rage

Technicalities.

Property disputes, failure to pay debts, etc., have to be settled in civil court, not by shooting. Nobody who tries this kind of thing gets away with it. Must be something in the water in Florida that makes them think they could.

FL: Boat rage

In the Intracoastal Waterway near Riviera Beach, Florida, Sunday one man allegedly shot two others in an argument over ownership and registration of a sailboat.

The alleged shooter was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

None of these people were kids or the other usual suspects in this type of crime.

That's why they have lawyers, dude.
