Robberies and burglaries by employees or thugs informed by employees are fairly common.
I am a little puzzled by the complete lack of description of the perpetrator. Even though he was was wearing a mask and gloves, at least approximate height and weight should be available.
I wonder if the cops have identified a suspect and don't want to alarm him.
I hope the store institutes better cash-management practices, among other security measures.

Texas City: Woman shot with own gun during robbery
In Texas City around 9 a.m. Monday a 68-year-old woman was shot during a robbery of a liquor store that she owns at 6812 FM 1765 (Texas Avenue). The robber made off with about $2,000. No suspect has been identified.

The victim is recovering at UTMB.The store owner told police she thought she saw a weapon in the robber’s pocket, which prompted her to pull a gun from behind a counter, Goetschius said.
“There was a struggle over her gun, and it discharged,” Goetschius said. “We believe it was her gun that she was shot with. We don’t know if the suspect had a weapon.”
