I don't know Anahuac well, but it seems like a place where you could buy enough relatively cheap land to have a private range. Just be careful about which county you are in.

What time limit is acceptable according to your standards?
Some issues are relevant over a period of years. Shooting ranges generally don't open and close overnight.

A great way to find a range is http://www.wheretoshoot.org/Find_Range/index.asp.
The only problem with this site is that they list some private clubs that don't return your phone calls.
By all means go to Texas City if you like it. We shoot there and we want to see it stay in business.
