I don't have anything against the Texas City range, but all you can do there is stand up and shoot at one target. I like to do IDPA-style exercises and practice shooting from cover and in unusual positions.
Texas City is also rather expensive -- $8 per person and per extra firearm unless you live in the city or are over age 54.

It's a very nice place, and many Galveston County residents are members. Unfortunately, it's about an hour drive from the island.
