Recoil is very subjective. If you can handle it, fine. If not, it will be an impediment to frequent practice. I'm just trying to recommend a try-before-you-buy approach.

Re: Beretta Jetfire 950 Pistol
I have shot an alloy snubby .38 Special revolver and would not buy one. I am not generally sensitive to recoil, but i found it hard to control.
I'm hoping the ladies can help with both purse and handgun selection. I've carried fairly heavy shoulder bags while traveling and didn't find it particularly onerous. I don't see how a pound one way or the other would make a big difference.

Sorry. The parentheses in the URL seem to cause trouble. You can go to http://www.psc-range.com/ and look for "Women's program" in the list on the left.

Marilyn, since you are in Galveston County, I recommend that you go to the women's program at PSC range in Friendswood: http://www.psc-range.com/PSC%20Flyer-1-8-08%20(2).htm
You can get tips on a modern firearm what will go bang when you pull the trigger and won't turn you into a hunchback.

Re: Beretta Jetfire 950 Pistol
How much do you want to spend? Do you prefer single or double action?
Any 9-mm alloy pistol or .38-Special revolver would be better than a .25. I'm not one to go on about mouse guns, but that is a very marginal caliber.
