Re: Dumb criminal of the day, maybe month

In Deerfield Township, Ohio (middle of nowhere), June 23, some kids looked into their mother's car and saw a naked man asleep. The man woke up and stole two bathrobes that happened to be in the car.

Police later traced a series of incidents during the previous night. The man had been in an altercation at a bar. Later he somehow lost his clothes. A resident reported a naked man trying to get into his or her house. The man's wallet was found on the road. His car was found in a parking lot with an AR-15 inside.

Finally the police found him walking down the road in a red bathrobe with a blue bathrobe tied around his waist.

He was arrested for disorderly conduct, bonded out, and got his car and rifle back. He returned the borrowed bathrobes (which most likely will be donated to Goodwill—yeech).

I wonder if they were cute little frilly pastel bathrobes with ducks and chicks embroidered on them.

I hope someone gave him the phone number of AA.

Re: Dumb criminal of the day, maybe month

At Logan airport in Boston today a man from Chicago was arrested after he allegedly told TSA personnel that he had guns and bombs in his checked baggage. When his baggage was inspected, no contraband was found.

He was charged with making a false bomb threat and disorderly conduct. It's not clear whether these were state or federal charges and whether he was confined or released.

Re: Dumb criminal of the day, maybe month

I've always thought that committing a crime and intentionally being arrested was a good fallback plan for someone who was broke and needed medical care.

There are old stories by the likes of O. Henry about bums who would get arrested at the beginning of every winter so they would have three hots and a cot during the bad weather.

The problem is that the police can decide not to arrest, the prosecutor can decide not to prosecute, the grand jury can decide not to indict, the judge can dismiss the case, or the person could be sentenced to probation and a large fine.

If he thinks he's going to buy a beach condo on social security he may be a few tacos short of a combination plate.

Re: Dumb criminal of the day, maybe month

In Friendswood Monday police observed a man asleep in a vehicle in the 2400 block of West Parkwood around 12:27 a.m.

The man was charged with felony theft and possession of a controlled substance. He allegedly had an air-conditioner, other metal parts, marijuana, and cocaine.

Theft of any amount of copper or aluminum tubing or wire is a felony.

The location is ironically not far from the PSC range.

The man has been charged with felony impersonation of a police officer.

Re: Dumb criminal of the day, maybe month

PATERSON, N.J. — Tracking down three alleged home invaders became easier for Paterson police after one of the bandits dropped the keys to their getaway car. Authorities said the gun-toting men entered a city apartment early Friday, expecting to find loads of money.

They woke one man and demanded cash as they tried unsuccessfully to bind his arms. But the man began screaming and fought with one bandit, stabbing him with scissors before another suspect beat him with a shotgun.

Realizing they targeted the wrong residence, the men then fled with just a three-foot, beer bottle-shaped piggy bank containing $2 in change.

Police soon arrived and, after finding the lost keys in a bedroom, used the car alarm to locate a deserted vehicle in a nearby parking lot. Its registration led them to the alleged robbers, who were sitting in a taxi outside one suspect's home.

The three men face robbery, burglary and weapons charges.

One pot plant is plenty for medical use. They can grow six feet high and very bushy.

Ya know, this kind of thing happens so often that it no longer qualifies as weird news.
