Re: Planning has started for this year's event
Keep an eye on this site: http://www.texasshooting.com/index.php? ... =33:events
Charles has said that he will put up a web form for registration.
The entire event does not "fill up" per se, but individual classes fill up quickly. If you don't make it into one, you can stand around and watch (which is mostly what I did last year).

The information will be here, on this web site. Last year, the schedule was drafted in July.

Re: Planning has started for this year's event
Welcome to the forum. Yes, it's great.kappatiff wrote:Husband and I just mailed our CHL apps in about 2 weeks ago ... I'm brand spankin' new to the board, but this event sounds great!
No.1) Do we have to have our plastic in hand in order to attend?
I don't know what the fee will be this year, but $15 covered everything last year. You have to supply your own ammo if you want to shoot.2) Roughly what is the cost per person? I saw something about $15, but wasn't sure if that was just for food, or what??? Just wondering if we're talking fees of $15 or $100 per person ...

Except maybe for a reception the night before.3) Is it just a one-day thing?
Friendswood and Webster.4) What towns are close enough to get a NICE hotel room?
Maybe 5 miles.Saw someone post about a Springfield Suites in Pearland - how far is that from the event?

Re: Planning has started for this year's event
A registration form will be posted when the schedule is set, about a month out from the event. You mail that in (unless Charles goes high-tech this year).

Re: Planning has started for this year's event
I think I went through 100 rounds last year and I could have used twice as much if I wanted to.

Re: Planning has started for this year's event
It's an all-day event at PSC Range in Friendswood. There are 20 or so classes on CHL-related topics, both classroom and shooting. There are some shooting opportunities you don't get often, like the Texas Star and other moving targets.

Re: Planning has started for this year's event
It looks like all the material from last year has been canned.

The fellowship is great, too. About 100 people attended last year and no one complained even behind Charles's back.
I have never been to anything else like it.
A few kids attended last year. As long as they're well-behaved, I don't think there are any specific rules for kids.

Re: Planning has started for this year's event
Two definite. The only thing that will keep us away is a hurricane.
I like the on-site lunch. There aren't any places to eat close to PSC, and by the time people argue about where to go and who's driving, a lot of time is wasted.
Please don't worry about the cost. I would attend this event if it cost $100.
