My comment on that solution is that it requires you to unholster and reholster in the car, with whatever risk of an accidental discharge or sighting by a bystander.

But as I always say, do whatever you think best.

No car safe is unbreakable, and any kind of safe basically has a "steal me" sign on it.

They can take the entire car if they want to.

If you keep a spare weapon in a safe, it will not be quickly accessible. Then are you going to take it out ever time you get in the car and stow it before you get out?

IMHO, if you drive more than a little, the best tactic is to carry in a holster that will allow you to deploy the weapon quickly.
