Re: Voyager 1 reaches previously unexplored region of space
I certainly have heard of Clayton Cramer. I've read his essay "The Racist Roots of Gun Control" several times and referred people to it. http://www.claytoncramer.com/scholarly/racistroots.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I did not know of his connection to the V...

I dunno, but does it have to do with the phrase "the outer limits"?ELB wrote:Tie-in to the gun community and trivia question: What is the relationship between Voyager 1 and 2, and the Heller decision?

Re: Alamo Heights: Officer fatally shoots student
Cops aren't lawyers (generally—maybe a few are), and police spokesmen say only what they are authorized to say—which is simply their job description.

... the LEO was not on school grounds when he made the traffic stop With a few limitations and fine print, all certified Texas LEOs have statewide jurisdiction. Game wardens can stop a vehicle for expired registration. You can be proned out, cuffed, and/or shot for a burned out license plate light....

Alamo Heights: Officer fatally shoots student
In Alamo Heights (San Antonio area) Friday at about 2 a.m. a police officer with the University of the Incarnate Word stopped a vehicle for alleged erratic driving. Re: Cities improperly posting 30.06 signs?
I was involved in the construction of Enron Field and it wasn't a real nice part of town back then. Has the area changed? Oh, yeah. It's yuppie and tourist heaven now. If you haven't been there in a dozen years, you wouldn't recognize the area. IIRC, it was originally called the Ball Park at Union ...

Minute Maid Park in Houston. Sign appears valid. I didn't pull out a ruler—that would be weird (though you can use a U.S. quarter coin to measure an inch). The physical premises of Minute Maid Park are owned by the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority, which is a taxpayer-funded public entity: htt...

You have to deal [drugs] where the customers are... I think there was a song about that: I'm one step ahead of the shoe shine Two steps away from the county line Just trying to keep my customers satisfied/Satisfied. Deputy Sheriff said to me... Re: Taking the "friend" out of Friendswood
The moral of the story is that crime occurs everywhere, including what we think are "safe" neighborhoods. I've seen this all my adult life. Decent people move from decaying urban neighborhoods to pristine suburbs, and their own children turn into the problems that they fled. Meanwhile, th...

Re: Taking the "friend" out of Friendswood
Continuing the good clean fun, two teenagers, age 17 and 18, were stabbed in a fight behind Wedgewood Elementary School. Police said it was a "drug deal gone bad." Everyone involved, including the stabbing victims, fled the scene. The victims were later hospitalized. Two suspects are at la...

Re: This day in history - November 9
I made the comment about being stationed at a NATO airbase right after SeamusTX made the original post in 2009, but somehow the date on the post has been changed to 2013. In the software field (which I work in) we call that a bug. I remember when you posted that comment four years ago. This thread ...
