I see people doing it alllll day every day ;)
Got stopped for this way back in the early '90s. I don't make a left anymore if I can't merge right away. I've seen some folks driving there for almost half a mile! Either slow down or speed up to merge already!
Not really in the same ball park here.

But I learned how to drive in Germany.

For the longest time after I got back to the States, I wouldn't make a right on red (not permitted in Germany).
Someone would normally have to honk at me.

Hopefully this ticket will be a good reminder of double yellow lines.

Re: Pinched in Cedar Park

Sorry, forgot about this thread.

I was able to take the Drivers Ed course and got the ticket dismissed.

So for about the next 9 months, I need to be especially careful while driving.

Some insurance companies still offer deffensive driving discounts, however many are getting away from it. It never seemed logical to me to offer a discount for something that is taken 90+% of the time to clear a traffic violation.

...its still not a bad idea to keep it off your record...FYI
If the Judge allows it, I will take it.

My main concern was losing my CHL.

I wasn't sure if this was a misdemeanor or felony. (I was certainly hoping it wasn't a felony)

Thanks.
Unless you try and run someone down with your car *most* citations that you receive as a result of a moving violation are class C and do not affect a CHL.
Thanks

Wow, I didn't know that was illegal. I always thought you
could go the center turn lane as long as you could get to it
safely (one direction of traffic allowed you to reach it).
Nope. The majority of other states in the US allow it. Texas isn't one of them, but that's where that belief and habit comes from ;)
Maybe that's why I did it then. I lived in several other States, before I made Texas my Homeland.

For years after I returned from Germany, I wouldn't do a right turn on a red light.

Re: Pinched in Cedar Park

I normally do a "TIA," when asking for advice. Recently, I've been so busy, I'm not certain when I can come back to check the forum.

So I do it, as not to be rude.

Your OP's closing line was "TIA", which caught my eye
since it's close to my screen name's abbreviation.

What did you mean by "TIA"? That's a new one to me.

SIA
TIA usually means "thanks in advance"
Yep, Thanks In Advance.

I kept looking up "SIA" =)

Pinched in Cedar Park

Howdy all,

Had my first LEO contact today while carrying.

I made a left across double yellow lines (just wasn't thinking), and was pulled over by a Cedar Park Motorcycle cop.

He asked for license and insurance. I told him at that point, that I hold a Texas CHL and had the weapon on my person.
He then asked where it was, I told him it was on my right hip. He said to keep my hands where he could see them. He didn't look surprised at all.
He wrote me the ticket and was on his way.

I'm curious since I can't find the code, is this a misdemeanor? Anyone know fees, etc? Could I lose my CHL?

The violation on the ticket:
CITATION: Turning Across Dividing Section

TIA
