Gigag04, I know from other posts that you are a LEO.

Do you carry a sidearm in the home as well? If I stepped over the line asking this, I apologize, and you don't need to answer, if that is the case.

Just asking, since I'm not yet comfortable with a handgun. Also I have two little boys, and wish to minimize their coming into contact with it.

I'm very comfortable with shotguns and rifles, I grew up with them and know how to handle them safely. Just had very little access to handguns growing up, so this is a new experience for me.
I got to fire them quite a bit at military ranges with my father, but that was the extent of it. (I'm actually a pretty good shot) I'll post my ccw renewal course target sometime.

As always, I wish to gain insight from those with experience. :tiphat:

Everyone, please feel free to comment.

TIA

Thanks, I remember now, reading that thread before I joined this forum. I will re-read it today.

Thanks

:iagree: I was carrying my pistol, so if things had been gotten ugly I was ready. :tiphat:
Understood.

Just a few weeks ago an aquaintence answered his at 8AM and was stabbed and robbed, he lived but now answers his with his new revolver. Even if it's a kid standing there, you never know who's in the bushes, and we all have bushes/blindspots. JMO.
I'm also one of those people who don't answer the door. My friends know to call ahead of time, if they decide to come over.

I've heard the new trend is where they knock, and if no one answers, they kick your door in. That was why I got my gun and went outside to investigate. (Nothing like that in my neighborhood, but it is pretty dark around here)

I'm going to add a "No Soliciting" sign soon. I also thought about a "Protected by Glock," but don't want to let any BG's know I have a gun to steal... or invite trouble.

I use those new fangled twisty bulbs. They use less energy and require less changing.
Got a couple of those about... just need to buy a ladder so I can change them out "rlol"

We have people coming through all the time going door to door that causes me worry for the older people in my neighborhood.
No kidding.

About two weeks ago, someone knocked rather loudly on our door at about 9:30pm. Come on! You really want to knock on someone's door that late at night to solicit?!?!

I got my gun, looked out the window, didn't see anything. Just assumed it was one of the neighbor kids playing a prank. Went outside, it was pitch black, didn't see anyone.

I've started turning on my porch lights now. (always left 'em off to save money)
