Re: December 2009 Applications

I haven't Wally Walked yet - although I did the Market Street Stroll yesterday. Wally Walk coming this week, as well.
brewdawg wrote:Well the plastic arrived today. Guess I will be planning a Wally Walk for one evening this week.

Re: December 2009 Applications

Yes, they have a standard XD40c, but no 9mm's. I'll just be patient.
brewdawg wrote:Have you checked Bullet trap? I got mine there and out the door it was about $580.

I need to *find* an XD9sub - Cabela's has them on sale starting today for $50 off (making price $469 for the std blk model), but of course i called them and they don't have any. Oh well, I really want night sights anyway.

Re: December 2009 Applications

 Yep, I'll WallyWalk as soon as I get my new carry piece. I have a full-size Beretta PX-4 Storm (9mm) that I keep by the bed, and I just put my 96FS (.40) Vertec on consignment at the local gunshop.

I most likely will pick up a SA XD9c. Trying to find someone who has one in stock with night sights, and then have to get a Comp-Tac Minotaur for it.

Re: December 2009 Applications

Check your mailbox - my plastic arrived about 30 minutes ago.
:thewave

Very quick processing, IMHO

Re: December 2009 Applications

Hopefully it'll only take an extra few days to sort out. Waiting on that letter must be tough!
brewdawg wrote:Thanks for the info. I contacted the Court and they knew immediately what I needed. So I faxed the request to them. Hopefully the required letter will be here later this week. Talked to the wife earlier and she said the letter from DPS explaining what I needed to provide still has not arrived. So we will see.

brewdawg wrote:Looks like mine is going to take a while longer. I got excited by all of y'alls recent approvals so I gave them a call. Supposedly a letter has been sent explaining that they need more info on a disposition. That is all the girl could tell me. So now I am waiting on the letter to find out what they are wanting.
Ugh! Sorry to hear that. Hopefully it will be something that can be cleared up quickly. :txflag:

Re: December 2009 Applications

Checking this morning, it was exactly as the DPS rep told me...

Application Completed - license issued or certificate active

I think I'll go shopping today for a new carry piece.

Re: December 2009 Applications

So my online status still says "Processing Application." Realizing that it's only been 30 days since I mailed in the paperwork, I decided that my lack of patience was getting the best of me - so I phoned Austin to "see if I could provided any additional information..."

The very professional and helpful womann on the phone informed me that my application was COMPLETED and my CHL was issued today. I figure another week before it's printed and received.

That's pretty quick, IMHO!

Re: December 2009 Applications

Excellent news Walther and Texmex2004.

Didn't think the DPS would be processing applications today. Still nothing on my status. I'm getting the itch to buy a new carry rig, but *not* going to do it until I get the "All Clear" signal.

Re: December 2009 Applications

I typically shoot at The Bullet Trap in Plano. For members, it's a reasonable $7.99/day range fee. Non-members is significantly higher. Worth it for me to be a member, definitely at $100/year.

I've also heard that Bass Pro Shops north of DFW airport has a decent range, but have never been there. I've only been back in Texas for a month after an 18 year hiatus in New Jersey. Sure is good to be home. :txflag:

brewdawg wrote:I hope so as well. Still have not received my PIN number so I don't know what my status us yet. Where do you shoot in the Allen area. My wife and I are looking at moving to eh Plano/Frisco/McKinney area in a few months.

Guess I should update my profile. Living in Collin County (Allen) - what a great town, although they do like their speed limits, here! :txflag:
