I never did it but I heard it was common practice up north. I've worn 'em once or twice for those REALLY COLD nights where I grew up (Northern Wisconsin - where -45F is not unusual in the winter). Hose can make the difference between freezing to death & not when you're on that snowmo at those temps...
But I don't think I'd make a habit of it here...
