Actually, no.
Most of these gun buy backs advertise "No questions asked." So BG can turn his stolen property into quick cash no questions asked.
And its all paid for by the Austin city taxpayer.

Meanwhile the city of Austin is laying off teachers but, apparently, they have tens of thousands of dollars to waste on stupid "feel good" schemes like this one.
I wonder how many extra break ins happen just before a gun buyback... you know, so that bad guys can make some quick money off of the PD.

That's what the police at these things think too, but I've never heard nor seen cited what law we would be breaking.
But without a way to check the serial numbers on the weapons you'd likely find yourself in possession of stolen property after the 1st buy. Then you are in trouble.
