CLEVELAND - Cleveland Police are investigating after a male shot a suspect trying to break into his girlfriend's residence.

According to Cleveland Police, officers received a call early Saturday morning for a male shot that was attempting to break into a home at 1120 E. 143 rd Street near Ida Rose Avenue.

Officers arrived on scene and found a man with two handguns, who told officers that he was sitting in his girlfriend’s driveway when an ex-boyfriend pulled up to the home.

The boyfriend jumped out of the car, ran inside and locked the doors and that’s when he says the ex-boyfriend attempted to enter the home through a window.

The boyfriend then ran from the home and the ex-boyfriend started chasing him. That’s when the boyfriend pulled his gun and shot the suspect.

Cleveland Police placed the boyfriend under arrest for felonious assault.

The ex-boyfriend showed up by private auto to MetroHealth Medical Center for a gunshot would to his thigh and knee.

At Metro, the ex-boyfriend told police that he went to his ex-girlfriend’s home to discuss an incident in connection with his probation officer and the current boyfriend, who was standing on the front porch upon arrival, shot him when he saw him walking up the house.
