If you've moved here ... You ought to go ahead and take a Texas class/do the paperwork etc to get a Texas CHL, so you'll be legal in school zones under the Federal Gun Free School Zone Act which provides an exemption for you outside a school building (can't go in building-Texas law), but while in a gun free school zone (exempt outside the buildings, in school zoneFederal Law), if you have a "license issued by the State in which the school is located* like if you go in a school parking lot in your car etc. ... but certain things like outdoor sporting events, outdoor school sponsored activities etc ... you can't carry(Texas law)
