"How much I will take" is pretty well stated in Chapter 9.

I don't recall it saying to defend a woman's ears by threatening force, nor deadly force or escalating to a point to which either would be necessary. But to prevent serious physical harm, kidnapping etc, sure.

Sec. 9.33. DEFENSE OF THIRD PERSON. A person is justified in using force or deadly force against another to protect a third person if:

"Watch it buddy" implies an "or else"
Sec. 9.04. THREATS AS JUSTIFIABLE FORCE.

PENAL CODE
TITLE 2. GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF CRIMINAL RESPONSIBILITY
CHAPTER 9. JUSTIFICATION EXCLUDING CRIMINAL RESPONSIBILITY

Sec. 9.34. PROTECTION OF LIFE OR HEALTH. (a) A person is justified in using force, but not deadly force, ...

Lots of good stuff in that chapter worth knowing ... I find myself reviewing it, but still go by Mr. Miaggi's advice "Best defense ... not be there"

Well, that would not have happened. The CHLer also said he was not even carrying at the time. I quess that is what he meant by saying his CHL saved him a year ago. Because it was not his gun that saved him, considering he did not have his with him at the time.
Not every poker player falls for a bluff ... Obviously the guy did more than one stupid thing that day.
Everyone errs now and again ...Hopefully he's learning better now how to resolve conflict without escalation, but by de-escalation.

The best block (for a punch) is not be there. (Mr. Miaggi- to Karate Kid)

Re: Interesting story at the range today

watch out that female dog (the other term for female dog) will run you over.
Perhaps his wife should have walked over, opened her wallet and showed the top of her driver's license.

There's better ways to de-escalate than escalating so you can maybe de-escalate later.
Dude, wanna see my library card? the picture on it makes me look like a Ninja ...
Hold on, I got a college ID somewhere that'll scare you ... and if not, I'll show you a photo of my pit bull

Reminds me of a kid I knew once saying "My hands are deadly weapons, I had to register them"
I know Karate, kung foo, and egg fu young, eggroll style.
MoJo wrote:Well, not the smartest thing IMHO it did deescalate the situation Mr. Biker Dude could have said he was threatening him.
Exactly
. So the ChL guy gets up in the bikers face and says, watch it buddy
:nono: escalation
then when the biker guy replied with equal (force) words ...
Biker guy says watch it
The CHL pulls out ... A bigger threat by the CHL of severe bodily harm or death in response to words ...
Hard to call that de-escalation

If something "MUST" be said:
Politeness works better "I'd sure appreciate you not using such language around the lady, we're not accustomed to hearing that sort of thing. thank you"
rather than:
. So the ChL guy gets up in the bikers face and says, watch it buddy
