Re: Carolyn McCarthy readies gun control bill

My favorite saying I learned from Andy .......... Pot, Kettle

They "swung first" and "gave the idea"/taught the others what to do ...

If they used Star of David symbols, maybe a nut would use kung fu throwing stars

If they'd have used pushpin symbols, perhaps some idiot would use a nail gun .. yeah sure blame the map.

If they used ...

It's always the fault of some inert object ...
(inert isn't the exact word I wanted, but I haven't had coffee yet)
inanimate? ... maybe ... I need coffee ...

And drunks behind the wheel of a car killed over 6,557 Texans in the last 5 years. When should we start to call our legislators to ban vehicles?
Especially ban "high-capacity" vehicles so when they crash, fewer people are injured/killed. Ban Buses, Vans, Trains, Airplanes, any vehicle capable of holding more than two passengers (including the driver).

Also since we don't "need" it, we should ban candy, with an exception for anybody who's diabetic, who will be able to purchase small amounts of 'emergency' candy with a prescription and a 3-day waiting period, as long as each individual piece is serialized and registered with the government. Also, we need to close the "candy-store loophole", where people are allowed to freely purchase candy without a background check!

You'll need a law that parents must secure their prescription candy from the kids, ...some sort of locking mechanism ...

AndyC wrote:It's a valid question; if something has to have a "need" or a "purpose" as an excuse for ownership - well then, so much for things like art and music, alcohol, religion, fast foods, fast cars, boats for people who don't make their living from fishing or tourism, toys for kids, etc, etc.

Second - if we have have to justify a "need" - who do we have to justify it to and what criteria will they use? Are we going to be slaves to the Kommisar of Needs?
well stated I SO agree :iagree: :iagree:

I was just thinkin' I've never used my fire extinguisher, I bet almost no one has , hence they really aren't needed, lets suggest a law banning them.

Oldgringo wrote:Hey guys,

The question on the table is not need. The question is, what purpose do hi-cap handgun mags serve? And please remember, I'm just askin'... BTW, My SA XD SC 9mm has a 13 round mag.
They serve a huge purpose when I'm at the range ... as I said. reloading mags isn't so easy for 1-handers ... even for 2-handers, it's convenience

It's 66 rounds in the car in case a biker group gets drunk and mad ant me .... it's there if I want it

Out of the hundreds of guns I've owned over about 42 years, I only shot maybe 20 of them ... I didn't need them, nor that ice cream I'm eating ...

I don't need an extended magazine for my SA Compact CW or my Kimber Target II or my Browning HiPower...or my Sig P230 SL. Lord knows, my S&W wheel gun CC's only hold 5 and 6 rounds respectively.

What purpose do high capacity magazines really serve? Who has survived a shoot-out or home invasion due to their extended magazine in real life? Just askin'...
No one home invaded me yet, so I can't answer from personal experience, but I have 8 rounds on my him, 21 next to my pillow and 2 30 rounders is where I'm using those to get to

It isn't so easy to reload with only 1 hand that's arthritic when you are asleep.

How many people survived a home invasion and didn't even need a gun? ... perhaps no one should have one in their home ...
AndyC wrote:Doesn't matter - we don't ban objects simply because a lunatic misused one.

Second, we're in deep trouble if "need" forms the basis for owning anything.

I forsee gun sales increasing if I "need" to carry 3 guns with 10 rounds each instead of only one gun with 30 "rlol"

philip964 wrote:ABC news seemed to be pointing at high capacity magazines. I bet this will be the "target" for lawmakers.
yes exactly

She states they are not for hunting, but only for killing and maiming people ... no one needs hi capacity magazines for hunting.

Guess her home hasn't been invaded by 5 home invaders while her hand shakes from adrenaline and she tries to fire while bobbing and weaving and putting distance between her and them and seeking cover.... or else, she uses secret magic 1-shot-stops-them bullets which can't miss as they are also those "smart bullets ...must be computer guidance system in each

Her contention : Those can fire hundreds of bullets per minute, that's not needed for hunting ...

ok, I suggest she buy a home protection gun with a timer ... one bullet per minute ... to use against 5 armed home invaders ...

If ALL guns only shot 1 per minute ...

Each minute, the homeowner would get shot 5 times, and after 5 minutes, the homeowner would have 1 bullet in each invader, homeowner 25 entry holes.

Math isn't my strong suit ... but those numbers aren't favorable to the law abiding homeowner.

Who hunts with a Glock 9mm anyway?

I want an Americans With Disabilities exemption for disabled persons and elderly unable to reload 2-round-magazines quickly to fight 5 home invaders, like the Federal laws used to provide exemptions for switchblades for 1-handed people .... :evil2:
