One story said they ALSO owned a home in Mexico, that explains Mexico license plates; probably less costly to register it there.Cobra Medic wrote:Why did they have Mexican plates on their truck? Maybe they do work for another cartel.

Re: McAllen man killed by pirates on Falcon Lake
I believe one story said they also owned a house in Mexico.
I still see fishermen posting fishing forums about going there to fish and tournaments, but to stay on our side of that buoy that divides Mexico from the US, because bullets can't cross over it or something.
I guess if you "feel" safe, your guard is down.
Since both Universities and Mexico are "gun free" they feel as safe at one as the other.
(and sadly, they probably are ... Luby's was "gun free" once too)

Re: McAllen man killed by pirates on Falcon Lake
I believe this is all a big hoax.
It says right here guns are illegal in Mexico.
http://tijuana.usconsulate.gov/tijuana/warning.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Any person in the Brady Bunch will tell you that Mexico is a gun-free zone, so it is all safe there and this couldn't happen.
Also interesting is :
http://tijuana.usconsulate.gov/avoid-crime-in-baja.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
"How to avoid being a victim of crime..."
"Kidnapping, including the kidnapping of non-Mexicans, continues at alarming rates."
So, if the Brady people ever got ALL guns to be made illegal to own, we'll be as safe as Mexico.

Fishing tournaments there ... BIG fish, STATE Park place to camp and picnic with family for vacation.Embalmo wrote:Thanks-That makes sense. Now my question is why get into a body of water that borders Mexico. Sounds like it's too dangerous to drink or swim in.Rex B wrote:One shore is Texas, with law enforcement.
The opposite shore is Mexico, with no law enforcement.
Obviously these bandits have fast boats that can run with a jetski. All they have to do is head for the Mexican shore and they're home free.

The pirates were probably hoping to steal faster jetskis than they had so the"Mules" carrying the drugs could carry more in their backpacks faster, making more trips to the USA quicker.Rex B wrote:I'm think these people need to buy faster jetskis for that lake

Re: McAllen man killed by pirates on Falcon Lake
For years, I and some others on this board (who came from/also post texaskayakfisherman.com forums) carry while fishing in our kayaks, paddling our little plastic boats by water moccasins, rattlesnakes, gators, other wild critters while portaging, Banjo Music, and now pirates.philip964 wrote:So do you now carry while you jet ski? Very sad.
