When I visited Abilene last month, I ran into my Cousin, a DPS Officer in Uniform with his DPS buddy, also in uniform, in an Abilene Church, I see his dad many times a year, but I hadn't seen him in years, so to jog his memory as to who I am, I showed him my CHL license photo compared to my 12 year old Driver's license photo, he didn't ask, but I'm sure he knew I was armed, along with his dad and brother who were armed deacons, and others .. His brother showed me his CHL and we went to the parking lot to my uncle's van because he wanted to see various holsters and things in my suitcase (which was too heavy to carry in easily). Sometimes we go to a range after church, or some may trade things in the church's kitchen; we'll not be posting signs, and if the government invades into the Church property to the extent of telling us how to dress and that we can't protect our congregations, I imagine most Baptists will be ignoring those instructions quietly. While true at some parts of time one will beat swords into plowshares; other parts of time one is to sell his plough and buy a sword.camlott wrote:I can assure you that our local police department is not interpreting this the way that DPS "wants" them to! - I askedwrightcrew wrote:
"I understand the confusion. This is why is stated that DPS wanted us to be sure as instructors to tell you that you are not to carry period into a church regardless if they have the signs posted or not. But then I also stated that the church and other attorneys interpret it as you did.
If they do not post the 30.06 sign then your not prohibited."
IADNAL... To me it doesn't really matter what they "want", it matters what is written in the law. I have no fear of carrying in church, and all of the officer's that attend with me know that I do and encourage it.

Re: Church Carry -- Question from Renewal Class
No notice by way of 30.06 , not prohibited.
Our Deacons/Pastors at various Texas churches often show each other their new carry guns in the Sanctuary or Kitchen before or after church. We won't be posting signs.
I haven't been to any church of the denomination I am a member of where at least a Deacon and usually most Deacons and often the Pastor were not armed. They have a duty to protect the Flock, as we do as our brother's keeper.
Won't mention denomination, but starts with a Bap and ends with tist.
