This is the northern part of the country in Kurdistan, it's significantly different from the rest of the country. There's a section of the nearby city with a bunch of different non-Muslim places of worship.

Unfortunately that's a story I've heard over and over. And yeah, I had time to come home, move, and relax just a bit before heading back out here. The good news is that I'm in a friendly area now. I just saw a big Christian church with a cross on it today, something you'd never see in Afghanistan
