Re: August 2009 Applications
Veterans Day - Thanks to all servicemen and servicewomen (past and present) for your service. Be Safe!!!
And, thanks to Texas DPS. Although it's a national holiday, somebody down there took the time to update my application status. Today it reads: "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active".
Looks like it's all up to the USPS now.

Re: August 2009 Applications
Sent an email to DPS today and received an answer five (that's 5) minutes later.
Here's their answer: The license is being printed. You should receive the license within 1-2 weeks.
Due to the heavy increase in applications, the process is taking longer than normal.
Brighter days are ahead!

Re: August 2009 Applications
Thanks, Joe817.
With the huge backlog DPS has had, I guess I shouldn't be getting so edgy. I only had one "infraction"; a "public drunkeness" charge in 1954. But that was in North Carolina so they may be the ones dragging their feet. I suppose it might help if I called DPS, asked that question and then called the PD in NC. Can't really see that holding up the CHL though, since I had a Top Secret clearance for most of my 21 years in the military and then spent 8 years as a Postal Police Officer for the Inspection Service. Wheels just sometimes turn slowly when there doesn't seem any way to grease them.

Re: August 2009 Applications
Class: 8/22/09
Packet Mailed: 8/24/09
Packet Received by DPS: 8/26/009
Pin# Rec'd (mail): Sometime later
Status - Processing Application: Oh, yeah
Status - Anxiously Waiting
I thought I was suffering all alone until I stumbled upon this forum yesterday. Now, I can suffer in good company. Has anyone had experience with Tarrant County dragging its feet on these applications?
