They are often used in locations where there is no range handy, Police stations, or the entry area to Cabela's, for example. In a range, I guess it might be useful if all the lanes were in use. A "Clearing Trap"? Like here?At my local range, there is a metal contraption which, I believe, is bolted to the deck. It has a roundish metal body and a mouth angling upward. I can only assume it would be to point a muzzle into in order to clear a malfunction? If this is the device's intended use, would it not be far less dangerous to aim down range and clear a weapon? It's probably a coffee maker or something and I'm a dork, but can anyone clue me in?
