Re: obamacare upheld

I liked this comment from today's "Morning Bell"...
Yesterday we recieved our Obamacare rebate check from Blue Cross. If the insurance company does not spend 80% of premiums on care it has to do these rebates. We got $6.11. Oh, did I mention that our premiums doubled to $750.00 per month since the Affordable Health Care Act passed? Only a politician would think that making an insurance company accept more risk is going to cut costs

Re: obamacare upheld

They have stated that in order for SCOTUS to decide on the constitutionality of a tax, that tax must actually have been collected from somebody first. So it would seem that once somebody is "fined" the tax, the supremes could then come back and call it unconstitutional.

I'm a computer software consultant. I travel to customer sites to determine their needs, implement our software, customize it according to customer needs, and train them how to use it.

One would think that people in the IT industry would mostly lean left, and some certainly do, at least the ones who prefer Apple over Microsoft. However, the vast, vast majority of my customers have all been center of right. I can think of only a handful in the last five years who have not been.

It brings to mind a statistic I once saw that said less than 20% of Americans self identify as liberal, and over 40% self identify as conservative, with the rest identifying as libertarian, independent, or other. I've always wondered since then how liberals have come to dominate political discourse in this country when they are such a distinct minority.
I take exception to this statement. In over 30 years in the tech industry, most people I've known are definitely on the right. And as for us Apple users, I propose it depends on what they use them for. Many Macs are used in the arts, making music, movies, animation, etc. Those may lean left, but engineering, programming, etc. lean right.

As I see it, engineers and programmers are logical thinkers, and therefore tend toward conservatism. On the other hand, those in the arts are the "touchy-feely" type, and are guided by their feelings and emotions, tending liberal.

By any other name would smell as sweet."
However, I'm not so sure what we are smelling, smells sweet...
