There recently was a police officer in a beginning pistol class I was helping with. (He lost a bet! )
Anyway, in conversation, he made the statement that "we CHL'ers" (referring to us as opposed to police officers) must obey the "gun-busters" signs. We corrected him, of course. But that's the level of gun law knowledge a non-trival portion of the law enforcement community has. I'm not real concerned with these under-educated LEOs causing problems, as even if they make a mistake, it shouldn't be either difficult or expensive to correct their error. However, it could entail a ride in the back seat.
On the other hand, the statements regarding certain agencies having a policy of enforcing signs they know are invalid, seems to me to open them up to a false-arrest charge.
